Divason Figueredo is the champion once again.
“Duce da Guerra” defeated Brandon Moreno in a tight match at the Honda Center on Saturday’s UFC 270 co-main event to clinch the UFC flyweight title. Figueredo (21-2-1 MMA, 9-2-1 UFC) won by unanimous decision defeating Moreno (19-5-2 MMA, 7-2-2 UFC) 48-47 on all three judges’ scorecards.
This was the third time Moreno and Figueredo met in the Octagon. Their series of fights was the first trilogy to go down in a row in the UFC. The two met for the first time in late 2019 at UFC 256, which ended in a majority draw, and then for the second time in 2020 at UFC 263, which ended in a third-round submission for Moreno.
It was a close and competitive match.
Moreno and Figueredo went back and forth in the first two rounds. Moreno was mainly putting pressure on Figueredo, while the Brazilian seemed content to lean back and counter.
