WASHINGTON, D.C. — It all comes down to this. The Red Sox have three regular season games remaining and will need a good weekend against the Nationals to reach the postseason.
Entering Friday, the Sox are tied with the Mariners for the second American League wild-card spot and have a one-game lead over the Blue Jays.
Cap:
The Red Sox find themselves in midst of pure chaos entering the last series of the regular season after dropping two out of three to the lowly Orioles. On Tuesday, Chris Sale was tagged for his first loss of the season after going 5 1⁄3 innings and allowing four hits and three earned runs while walking one and striking out six.

Ryan Mountcastle had the big hit of the night, taking Sale deep for a two-run shot to give the Orioles the lead in the 6th inning. The Red Sox offense continued to struggle, as they were only able to muster three hits off Orioles pitching, and Hunter Renfroe had two of them as the Red Sox lost 4-2.
Owner:
John William Henry II (born September 13, 1949) is an American businessman and investor and the founder of John W. Henry & Company, an investment management firm. He is the principal owner of Liverpool Football Club, the Boston Red Sox, The Boston Globe, and co-owner of Roush Fenway Racing.
