Robert Patrick Petrino (born March 10, 1961) is an American football coach. He currently serves as the offensive coordinator for the Texas A&M Aggies. He is the former head coach of the Missouri State Bears. Previously, he served as the head coach of the Louisville Cardinals football team from 2014 until he was fired during the 2018 season. He previously held this post from 2003 to 2006. From 2008 to 2011, Petrino was the head football coach at the University of Arkansas. He was dismissed from that position in the spring of 2012 for concealing an extramarital affair with an athletic department employee. Petrino also coached the Atlanta Falcons of the National Football League (NFL) for the first 13 games of the 2007 season. He spent the 2013 season as the head football coach of the Western Kentucky Hilltoppers and the 2020–2022 season as the head coach of the Missouri State Bears.

Motorcycle accident
Bobby Petrino, an avid rider, crashed his motorcycle on a two-lane highway about 20 miles southeast of Fayetteville. The accident left Petrino with four broken ribs, a broken bone in his neck and several facial lacerations. In a now-infamous news conference, in which he appeared wearing a neck brace, Petrino said that the accident occurred because he lost control of the motorcycle due to the sun and wind. Arkansas confirmed the wreck, noting that it was in stable condition and that “no other persons were involved” in the crash.
However, a state police report shed more light on the incident and contradicted some of the scant details provided publicly by the university. Petrino was accompanied by someone on his motorcycle: Jessica Dorrell, whom he hired last month as the Razorbacks’ player development coordinator. Dorrell, a former Arkansas volleyball player, previously worked for the Razorback Foundation, the fundraising arm of the university’s athletic department.
As it turns out, the two were more than just colleagues. Bobby Petrino, then 51, a married father of four, had maintained an inappropriate relationship with Dorrell, who was 25 at the time, for what Arkansas athletic director Jeff Long described as a “significant” period. At one point, Long said, Petrino gave Dorrell a gift of $20,000.
About 20 minutes before the police report was made public, Petrino admitted to his relationship with Dorrell and to being with her on the motorcycle.
Scandal
The Arkansas football program has reportedly decided to bring back former head coach Bobby Petrino as its offensive coordinator, according to ESPN’s Chris Low. When Petrino was last at Arkansas, he was fired after becoming involved in a scandal and affair with former Razorbacks volleyball player and assistant Jessica Dorrell.
One of the enduring images of Petrino’s Razorback tenure was a photo of him wearing a neck brace, which he wore after lying to Dorrell about riding a motorcycle. Now, it appears the Razorbacks have opted to bring Petrino back as the team’s offensive coordinator, and college football fans were quick to react.

Petrino was fired as head coach in 2012 after hiring a woman with whom he was in a romantic relationship, which came to light after an infamous motorcycle accident with him as the passenger.
Petrino initially lied in public statements and said he was alone during the crash, which occurred about 20 miles southeast of Fayetteville, home of the university.
Petrino gave a $20,000 gift to the employee, former volleyball player Jessica Dorrell, which he did not disclose.
Context: The Razorbacks have struggled recently with painful losses such as 7-3 against Mississippi State and 48-10 against Auburn, leading some to question whether the program will retain head coach Sam Pittman for another year. Athletics director Hunter Yurachek confirmed that Pittman would remain.
