Robert “Bobby” Finke is an American swimmer. Finke is scheduled to represent his country at the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games in the men’s 800 meter freestyle event. He won a gold medal for the United States in the 2020 Summer Olympics Men’s 800 metre freestyle.

Bobby Finke took a look up, 760 meters into the race, and knew it was now or never. Whatever was left in the 21-year-old Floridian’s legs, he was going to have to wring out if he had a chance to get in the medal picture in the men’s 800 freestyle.

The 21-year-old Floridian, who spent most of the race in the middle of the pack, surged past the rest of the field to win a surprising gold in the event at the Tokyo Olympics, finishing with a personal-best time of 7:41.87.
The gold medal came as a shock to casual onlookers – and to Finke, too.
High School:
Finke graduated from Countryside High School, where he was also a club swimmer for St. Petersburg Aquatics.
