Wife
Donovan married his wife, Christine, in 1989. The Donovans have four children: Connor, Brian, Hasbrook, and William Donovan III, who transferred from Catholic University to Florida and joined their father’s team as a reserve guard. A fifth child, Jacqueline, was born dead in 2000, prompting Donovan to join several children’s charities and help raise money for a children’s hospital in Gainesville.
Similar tragedies struck the families of Donovan’s mentor Rick Pitino, former assistant coach Anthony Grant and current assistant John Pelfrey, leading to a close relationship between them.
Salary

Donovan won 61% of his games in five years with OKC as Scott Brooks’ replacement. He did the same without Harden and Durant, both of whom left for more money and more wins. And all relationships, no matter how good, tend to crumble over time. So Donovan fled to Chicago, where he finds a similar lack of major players on his roster. Their best player is 25-year-old Zach LaVine, who along with Aaron Gordon has been the league’s slam-dunk star, although not necessarily a playoff mainstay. Gordon has had a good season – averaging 27.1 points, 5.0 rebounds and 4.9 assists – but is unlikely to be the main piece on a title contender. But that coaching lifer in Donovan is Gene, which he inherited from his coaching mentor, the great Rick Pitino, who coached Donovan while playing college ball in Providence. Donovan was also a star coach in college, leading the Florida Gators to two NCAA championships.
Hair
Billy Donovan has done many different hairstyles in recent years. He is known as a talented basketball player and basketball coach. Nevertheless, American college basketball player, professional basketball player, point guard, college basketball coach, NCAA Tournament championship coach is particularly well known for his exceptional public appearances and his charming personality. Rumors and gossip about the 57-year-old’s hairstyles constantly appear in celebrity magazines.
Contract
We’ve got the details of Billy Donovan’s contract with the Bulls. It stands at $24 million for four years, hence $6 million per season, according to The Athletics Shams Charaniya.
The Bulls had a major change at the front office this season with the departure of longtime brain trust Garpax (Gar Forman and John Paxson). Chicago brought in Arturas Karnisova from the Denver Nuggets as president of the Basketball Ops. Karnisova’s major move to fire after another unsuccessful season was her split with coach Jim Boylen. Karnisova’s second major move would be to bring in Donovan as head coach to lead a youth group in the future.
This is a great fare for Bulls on many levels. Instead of bringing in a former assistant, who can take time to adapt to being head coach, you get an established coach at Donovan. Billy D has never had a losing season in five years with the Thunder, making all his campaigns postseason. He boasts an impressive 243–157 record in the regular season (.608 win percentage) and an 18–23 record in the playoffs.
The results weren’t always the same for OKC in the postseason, but Donovan had progressively less work to do. In his first season, he helped the Thunder advance to the Western Conference Finals, losing to the Warriors in seven games. This led to the departure of Kevin Durant and the Thunder were not exactly the same elite team. Still, Donovan kept him in the tough West and in the postseason every season.
