The Conference is a college athletic conference headquartered in Irving, Texas, USA. It consists of ten full member universities. It is a member of the Division I of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) for all sports. Its football teams compete in the Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS; formerly Division I–A), which is the higher of the two levels of the NCAA Division I football competition. Its 10 members include eight public and two private Christian universities in the states of Iowa, Kansas, Oklahoma, Texas and West Virginia. Additionally, the Big 12 has 12 affiliated members – eight for the sport of wrestling, one for women’s equestrian, one for women’s gymnastics and two for women’s rowing. The Big 12 Conference is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization.[2] The Big 12 Convention commissioner is Bob Bowlesby.

UFC Joins
On September 3, 2021, several media outlets reported that this was on the verge of inviting four schools—Brigham Young University (BYU), the University of Cincinnati, the University of Houston, and the University of Central Florida (UCF). All four schools were reportedly preparing membership applications, and their future admissions could be approved as early as September 10. The entry time was uncertain at the time of the report. Three schools (except BYU) are members of the American Athletic Conference, which requires a notice period of 27 months before departure. [8] [9] On September 10, 2021, the remaining eight members of the Big 12 joined the four schools. Voted to be accepted into the Big 12. [10]
When will UFC Join
Big 12 Commissioner Bob Bowlesby and Pac-12 Commissioner George Kilawkoff have met to discuss a possible merger of the Pac-12s to absorb Big 12 teams. A full merger would bring along a bigger TV contract and increase the power of the Pac-12. They currently consist of Washington, Washington State, Standford, Oregon, Oregon State, USC, UCLA, Cal, Arizona, Arizona State, Utah and Colorado. It’s not the most exciting group, but the additions of Iowa State, Oklahoma State, and West Virginia can provide some competition.
