GK: Marc-Andre ter Stegen – 6/10 – There was barely anything to contend with from a shot-stopping perspective. His death was particularly impressive. RB: Jules Condé – 6/10 – Lining on the right hand side of the defence, made the long-awaited Barcelona debut. Didn’t show much offensive effort which is understandable, but his defensive position was good and he pulled out a great goal in the second period. CB: Ronald Araujo – 6/10 – looked far more confident in his usual position in the central defence. The dominant in his defensive doubles allowed Barca to keep their pressure on Real Valladolid in the half. CB: Eric Garcia – 7/10 – Continued his impressive start to the season. His delivery was excellent and he displayed impressive recovery speed on a few occasions. LB: Alex Balde – 6/10 – Giving Xavi food for thought with his performance. Took a real swagger and his overlaps under the left hand caused many problems for Valladolid. CM: Sergio Busquets – 6/10 – Helped to weave together the spells of Barcelona’s possession. His presence drew opponents to him and made room for Pedri and Gavi on either side. CM: Pedri – 7/10 – Brilliant first finish to double Barca’s advantage in the first half. The sky is the limit for the Spaniard if he starts adding goals to his game. CM: Gavi – 6/10 – Combined effectively with Rafinha on the right. His underlaps allowed the Brazilian to hug the touchline. Very dangerous when he lifted the ball into space. RW: Rafinha – 8/10 – Showed lightning speed to the right, reached with consistency in Lewandowski, making Barca’s opener. Looks like a perfect fit in the system under Xavi.ST: Robert Lewandowski – 9/10 – His penalty box skills were underscored by his ability to get consistently at the end of Rafinha’s wicked delivery, but off the field. His work outside was just as impressive. An excellent end to add their fourth goal in Barca colors this season and only the crossbar allowed them to seal their own.

If Sunday’s proceedings at Camp Nou are any indication, Blagrana is up to the challenge.

Barcelona thrashed newly-promoted Real Valladolid 4–0 behind a second straight brace from Robert Lewandowski, and the Spanish appears to be a real contender in both top-flight and European tournaments.

Lewandowski’s brace provided his first competitive goal at the Camp Nou, with Barcelona fans stunned by all their attackers. The Polish amulet was endorsed by Osman Dembele and Rafinha, and both covered themselves in glory at various stages.

Rafinha, taking an assist on Barcelona’s first goal, fed Lewandowski with excellent crosses for several occasions. Meanwhile, Dembele’s superbly threaded pass assisted him in the final two strikes, feeding Pedri for second and Lewandowski for third.

Lineup

Ter Stegen (GK) – Balde, Garcia, Conde, Araujo – Gavi, Busquets, Pedri – Dembele, Lewandowski, Rafinha.

It is possible that the Real Valladolid manager may make changes to the target target. Starter Sergio Asenzo made a major error late last weekend that allowed Sevilla to level the score 1-1 and earn a draw. Asenzo, achieved after losing his place to Villarreal this summer, could be replaced by longtime Valladolid goalkeeper Jordi Massip, who started through last season’s promotional campaign and followed a move from Barcelona in 2017. Been with the club since.

Elsewhere, centre-back Jawad El Yamiq has been suspended for the match after receiving a red card in last weekend’s game. He was taken off the bench after being red-carded with Sevilla defender Marcos Acua, who had already been withdrawn.

Striker Sergi Guardiola, who returned from his loan at Rio Vallecano last year, has yet to make a mark this season. Former Sevilla and Swansea midfielder Roc Mesa is the club’s captain.

Real Valladolid guessing starting lineup (4-3-3): Masip (GK) – Escudero, J. Fernandez, J. Sanchez, L. Perez – Aguado, Mesa, K. Perez – Anuar, Guardiola, I. Sanchez.
