Barcelona failed to win a third straight match and dropped two points at home against Deportivo Alavés thanks to a 1-1 draw at Camp Nou. In the first game under interim manager Sergi Barjuan, Barça certainly looked a lot more like Barcelona in this one and created enough to win comfortably, but they couldn’t score more than the one goal against an Alavés side that fought hard and earned a valuable point. Interim coach Sergi Barjuan takes charge of Barcelona on Saturday evening as the Catalans host Alaves an attempt to get back on track in La Liga. Wednesday night’s defeat to Rayo Vallecano cost Ronald Koeman his job, and the Blaugrana this season have been extremely disappointing sitting ninth in the table after 11 rounds of fixtures. Alaves for their part head to the Camp Nou following back-to-back wins for the first time since May, although they remain clear outsiders for Saturday’s clash.

Barcelona vs Alaves

Koeman on Saturday night, as Sergi Barjuan takes interim charge of the first team for the clash against Alaves. The Dutchman was dismissed moments after the 1-0 away loss at Rayo Vallecano in midweek, and everyone involved with the club will be hoping that the new era will see a more positive version of the Blaugrana after an awful run of form. Barcelona are currently ninth in the table but, at home to 16th place Alaves, the Camp Nou faithful are confident of a win.

Result

As we reached the final minutes Barça continued to attack with poise and never resorted to aimless crosses into the box, but they could not find one last chance to score a winner and the final whistle came to give each team a point.

The result is disappointing at home against a relegation candidate, and Sergi Barjuan won’t be in charge for long but the performance was quite good. That felt like Barça again, and the team looked a lot more cohesive and organized than they were under Ronald Koeman. There is hope, my friends.

Goals

The toneless party of the Barcelona against the Sportive Alavés (1-1), this Saturday in the Camp Nou, showed that Ronald Koeman was not the only problem of the team to achieve good results. The blaugrana crashed in front of the babazorros and, in addition to following with big difficulties to mark (only remedied it an individuality of Memphis Depay), confirmed that backwards they keep on being a joke.
