Adris Femi “Bam” Adebayo (born July 18, 1997) is an American professional basketball player for the Miami Heat of the National Basketball Association (NBA). He played college basketball for the Kentucky Wildcats before being selected by the Heat with the 14th overall pick in the 2017 NBA Draft. He was named an NBA All-Star and was voted to the NBA All-Defensive Second Team during the 2019–20 season.

Contract

After some intrigue about their long-term plans, the Heat announced on Tuesday that they have signed the Bam Adebayo center to a maximum extension of five years. Like his 2017 partners Donovan Mitchell and Jason Tatum, Adebayo signed a deal worth at least $163 million. The contract could increase to $195.6 million if Adebayo meets criteria such as making an All-NBA team. Unlike Mitchell and Tatum, Adebayo’s deal does not include a player option last season. The Heat announced that a timetable would be provided on Adebayo’s return from surgery, but ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski reported that he expected four to six weeks to miss.

According to Jeff Stotts of In Street Cloths, the average time for in-season surgery to repair a torn UCL is 26 games, or about seven weeks.

Adebayo has played 18 out of a possible 21 games so far this season. He missed the first three games of the season due to a knee injury. Dwayne Deadmon started his place in those games.

Following their loss to the Nuggets, the Heat are third in the Eastern Conference standings with a 13–8 record.
