Injury

Baltimore Ravens Mark Andrews: Injury| Fantasy| Injury update

In a significant blow to the Baltimore Ravens, tight end Mark Andrews is expected to be out the remainder of the season due to a serious ankle injury suffered during Thursday night’s clash against the Cincinnati Bengals. Ravens head coach John Harbaugh confirmed the serious news after the game, based on an MRI revealing Andrews had a cracked fibula and a torn ankle ligament.

The injury occurred during the opening drive when Andrews caught a pass and was tackled by Bengals linebacker Logan Wilson. The impact of the tackle knocked Andrews to the ground, prompting players on both teams to signal for immediate medical attention. Andrews, a prime target for Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson, had to be helped off the field and was later ejected from the game.

Fantasy

Entering the Week 11 matchup against the Bengals, Andrews had caught 43 of his 69 targets for 521 yards and six touchdowns and was the TE3 on the season in half PPR formats. Isaiah will likely be the popular name to take out Andrews, although he was unable to score any of his targets on Thursday. But the prospect has demonstrated his receiving ability in the past and will have a clear path to opportunities on a good offense, which makes him immediately relevant to fantasy managers in a skinny situation.

Injury update

According to a report from NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, an MRI confirmed that Ravens tight end Mark Andrews suffered a cracked fibula and an ankle ligament injury Thursday night.

Head coach John Harbaugh said Thursday night that the injury is expected to end the season.

Andrews suffered the injury when Bengals linebacker Logan Wilson made a hip-drop tackle, causing his body weight to fall on the back of Andrews’ leg.

The NFL is considering the possibility of banning that type of tackle, which the league’s research shows is 25% more likely to cause injury.

The Ravens will now move forward with second-year players Isaiah Possible and Charlie Kolar as their top tight ends and will likely rely more heavily on the wide receiver corps in which they invested heavily this offseason.
