Insurance commercial
Throughout his tenure in Cleveland, Mayfield’s progressive commercials were a staple of the football season, with the series portraying him as a resident of Browns Stadium completing chores for the team. The commercials featured Mayfield watering plants, mowing the lawn, washing dishes, and sweeping the stadium stairs.
The crushing reality of the unexpected effects of Mayfield being assigned to Carolina is that he wanted to do one last endorsement, but Progressive did not accept the offer. Mayfield pitched a follow-up installment to the series, and called Progressive’s reluctance to do so as a “missed opportunity”. Seeing Mayfield pack up the U-Haul and move to Carolina’s Bank of America Stadium seemed like a clear win for Progressive, but perhaps the Ohio-based insurance company wasn’t ready to see him move.
