Statement

Baker Mayfield: Statement| Did get cut| Released| Contract

Baker Mayfield has kept her silence on social media this season, but she shared a statement on her Twitter account on Tuesday evening.

The Cleveland Browns quarterback shared his statement amid uncertainty about his position with the team. In the statement, Mayfield expressed his love for Cleveland and his fans.

Mayfield’s statement was inspired by rumors about her situation with Brown.

This week’s report says Brown is chasing Deshan Watson. We also shared a report Tuesday that said Cleveland has placed trade calls on Mayfield. Earlier reports have suggested that the Browns were interested in an upgrade to quarterback.

Mayfield has been inconsistent in his four years in Cleveland, looking good at times and then barely serviceable at other times. Cleveland has had success under him as of 2020, but his game has clearly held him behind during an 8-9 season last year.

It may not be easy for Mayfield to go through the off-season knowing the Browns are looking to improve the situation. But that doesn’t mean he won’t be back with the team. All parties hope that the rumors and uncertainty will prompt Mayfield to improve his game this season and come back healthy and hungry in 2022.

Did get cut

Baker Mayfield’s season is over.

Browns coach Kevin Stefanski said during Tuesday’s press conference that the quarterback will undergo surgery on the left shoulder to repair a torn labrum, which has plagued him throughout the season. Mayfield will miss Sunday’s match against AFC North champions Bengals, the third game of the season he has missed.

The announcement officially ends what has been a disappointing campaign by the quarterback for the fourth year. The Browns missed the playoffs after starting the season with high hopes. Mayfield, who appeared to be taking a big step forward in 2020, may backtrack again in 2021 due to injury. He had a 60.5 completion percentage, 17 touchdown passes, 13 interceptions and 3,010 passing yards. In his final two games, after losing to the Packers and Steelers, he threw six interceptions and four touchdown passes for a 50 percent completion percentage.

Mayfield wrote, “The last 4 years have really been nothing short of life changing as I heard my name in the draft moving to Cleveland.” “It is not a message with hidden meaning. This is to thank my family and the city of Cleveland for hugging me. We’ve gone through all the PS’s and down’s and shared many memories in the process. I do not know what will happen next, which is the meaning behind the silence I have experienced during the duration of this process. I can only control what I can, which is trusting God’s plan throughout the process.

“I have given everything that I have to this franchise. It’s something I’ve always done on every level and on every level. And wherever I take my next Snap, it won’t change. No matter what happens… I just want to say thank you to the fans who really embraced me and the mentality that syncs so well with the hardworking people of this city.

“Cleveland will always be part of the story of Emily and I. And we will always be grateful for the impact it has had on our lives and will remain so.”
