Cleveland Browns quarterback Baker Mayfield issued a statement on Twitter Tuesday night explaining his uncertainty with the franchise that Houston Texans quarterback Deshan Watson was meeting with the Browns to discuss a potential trade.

Mayfield thanked the city of Cleveland and wrote, “I don’t know what will happen next, which is the meaning behind the silence I have experienced during the duration of this process.”

“The last 4 years have really been nothing short of life changing as I heard my name in the draft for moving to Cleveland. It’s not a message with hidden meaning. It’s a thank you to the city of Cleveland for embracing my family and me. Meaning. I can only control what I can do, which is relying on God’s plan throughout this process.

“I’ve given the franchise everything that I have. It’s something I’ve always done on every level and on every level. And wherever I take my next snap, it won’t change. Whatever happens.. I just want to say thank you to the fans who embraced the mindset of who I really am and matched so well with the hardworking people of this city.

Baker Mayfield admitted on the YNK Yes No What I Mean podcast that aired Wednesday that she thinks Brown handled the end of his career in Cleveland unfairly. “I feel 100% humiliated,” he told podcast host Mike while at home in Lake Travis, Texas. “I was told one thing, and he said another thing entirely.” He said he had four head coaches in four years and there was a complete lack of consistency during his tenure here.

“I’m looking for stabilization right now,” he said. “I don’t know where I’m going, but I’m not nervous. I’m going to try to control what I can.” Despite the unofficial ending, in which Mayfield was replaced by Deshan Watson and would probably be traded soon, he would do it again.

“I really, really have no regrets about my time in Cleveland that I tried to give that place,” he said. “True Clevelanders and true Browns fans know this. And so I can walk away from the whole situation feeling like I did.”

What team is on

The Baker Mayfield era in Cleveland is over. It’s just a matter of when and where Brown can trade him.

Thus, no trade materialized for the former No. 1 overall pick of the market. Baker himself said during an appearance on the latest episode of the “You Never Know” podcast that he doesn’t know where he’ll play next season.

However, he has a place in mind as the “most likely option”: Seattle.

The Seahawks traded Russell Wilson earlier this off-season, and right now, have Drew Locke as their QB1 with Jacob Eason behind them. On paper, he seems a fit for Mayfield.

However, there has been no discussion about Seattle or any team that actually wants to acquire a Cleveland franchise quarterback once. While that may soon change, NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport has a theory.
