Baker Reagan Mayfield (born April 14, 1995)[1] is an American football quarterback for the Carolina Panthers of the National Football League (NFL). After a stint with Texas Tech, Mayfield played college football in Oklahoma, where he won the Heisman Trophy as a senior. He was selected for the first time overall by the Cleveland Browns in the 2018 NFL Draft.

The Mayfields have Carolina on their mind for their third wedding anniversary.
Baker Mayfield was finally traded from the Browns to the Panthers on Wednesday, culminating in a month-long stretch where the player and team were clearly headed for divorce.
Posting to her Instagram story, Mayfield’s wife, Emily, was excited about the new destination — and the solemn date on which the transaction took place.
“[O]n Anniversary Day too,” wrote Emily Mayfield in the caption, which includes an eyeball emoji and blue and white hearts. “Love watching it!”
The couple got married on July 6, 2019. To celebrate the occasion, the couple is holidaying in the Bahamas this week.

The only concession made in the trade is the Carolina 2024 conditional fifth round draft pick. If Mayfield can return to the form that saw him throw a rookie-record 27 touchdowns in 2018 and lead Cleveland to their first playoff win since 1994 two seasons ago, then Price – a credible starting quarterback for the fifth round Key Pick – Could be a boon for the Panthers team looking to play quarterback consistently.
Baker Mayfield’s state of conflict and injury
Mayfield is coming off a disappointing season. In an 8–9 year absence, he posted a career-high 17 touchdowns and 35.3 QBR with 13 interceptions. However, last season’s struggles were partly due to Mayfield’s play through an injured left shoulder, which led him to wins from Browns Week 2 against Houston Texas throughout the year.

Brown is only getting a 3-day pick in exchange for the No. 1 overall pick from four years ago. They are also reportedly raising $10.5 million of Mayfield’s salary for the season, with the Panthers giving him $5 million.
Mayfield would have spent $8 million more to keep him, so the desperation resulted in some savings, but in the end, everyone knew he had little leverage and the Panthers were most willing to wait.
Mayfield is the only “winner” of this trade, even with a $3.5 million pay cut at the end, because he is still paid, regardless of where he is in the Panthers lineup in Week 1. The Browns lose again to burn the bridge with their one-time playoff-winning QB to the point that he couldn’t help (or really didn’t want to) save face for his risky investment in Watson.
