Brown’s COVID outbreak reached a critical peak on Wednesday morning.

Just a day after quarterback Baker Mayfield and head coach Kevin Stefansky tested positive for the virus, the Browns placed eight players on the COVID-19 list. His position is now precarious as Cleveland is scheduled to play against the Raiders on Saturday afternoon.

NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reports that there has been no discussion about changing the state of the game. As such, Brown must prepare to play without his two main pieces, one on offense and the other as an edge leader.

Backup

The Cleveland Browns continue to deal with the growing outbreak of COVID-19. Quarterback Baker Mayfield is the latest to test positive heading into ESPN’s 15 Per Week. Brown’s backup quarterback is Case Keenum.

ESPN noted that Mayfield could play if he tests two negatives between now and the team’s Saturday game versus the Raiders. This shows that Mayfield has been vaccinated. If he was not vaccinated and tested positive, he would have to be quarantined for ten days.

The news comes after word that head coach Kevin Stefansky and acting back coach Ryan Cordell both tested positive. Brown put eight players on his reserve/COVID-19 list on Tuesday and Mayfield will be the 11th overall on the list – with more positives expected. That group includes TE Stephen Carlson, OG Wyatt Taylor and Drew Forbes, P Jamie Gillan, TEs Austin Hooper and David Nozoku, WR Jarvis Landry, DE Tackerist McKinley, LB Anthony Walker and OT Jedrick Wills.

Twitch

Baker Mayfield made a joke about his 2017 arrest in Arkansas on Thursday while he was streaming on Twitch during a game of Fortnite.

During one match, the Cleveland Browns rookie was heard saying “hopefully I’m running faster than I can in Arkansas right now” as his avatar was running through the woods:

Mayfield was arrested in February 2017 on charges of public intoxication, disorderly conduct, resisting arrest and running away. The former Oklahoma star filed a plea four months later, which required him to pay a fine, complete 35 hours of community service and attend a varsity drink. -Education courses.

Even though the arrest was a low point in Mayfield’s life, the 23-year-old managed to win the Heisman Trophy later that year and became the No. 1 overall pick in the 2018 NFL draft.

Covid

Cleveland Browns quarterback Baker Mayfield has tested positive for COVID-19, sources tell ESPN’s Field Yates, Kimberly Martin and Adam Schefter, jeopardizing his availability for Saturday’s game against the Las Vegas Raiders Put.

The Browns also announced on Wednesday that head coach Kevin Stefanski tested positive for the virus. If Mayfield and Stefanski don’t test two negatives by Saturday, they will both miss Cleveland’s crucial game against Las Vegas.

A source told Schaffter that Mayfield, who was placed on the COVID-19/reserve list, feels “completely normal” despite testing positive. If Mayfield is unavailable, Case will be in line to start Keenum, with Nick Mullens serving as backup QB.

If Stefanski doesn’t test two negatives in time, special teams coordinator Mike Prefer will serve as Cleveland’s acting head coach.

There has been no discussion of changing the state of play on Saturday, NFL commissioner Roger Goodell said Wednesday at league meetings in Irving, Texas.
