Browns quarterback Baker Mayfield will not play against the Broncos on Thursday night, the team announced Wednesday.
Case Keenum will start in place of Mayfield.
Mayfield said on Wednesday that he looked forward to playing despite dealing with a torn labrum in his left shoulder. But a day later the team dismissed him.
Mayfield had an MRI on his left shoulder earlier this week when J.J. Watt.
It was initially reported that Mayfield suffered a partially torn labrum in his left shoulder in Week 2, but Mayfield said on Tuesday that it was a completely torn labrum.
Keenam, 33, is in his second year with the franchise. He has played in two matches this season, but has bowled only three passes.
Mayfield did not miss a single game in his professional career. In the season, he has thrown for 1,474 yards and has thrown six touchdowns and three interceptions.
