The Bahrain Grand Prix currently officially known as the Gulf Air Bahrain Grand Prix for sponsorship reasons, is a Formula One motor racing event in Bahrain. The first race took place on 4 April 2004 at the Bahrain International Circuit. It made history as the first Formula One Grand Prix to be held in the Middle East, and was awarded the “Best Organized Grand Prix” award by the FIA. The race has generally been the third race of the Formula One calendar. However, in the 2006 season, Bahrain swapped places with the traditional opener, the Australian Grand Prix, which was pushed back to avoid a clash with the Commonwealth Games. In 2010, Bahrain staged the opening race of the 2010 season and the cars drove the full 6.299 km (3.914 mi) “endurance circuit” to celebrate F1’s ‘Diamond Jubilee’. In 2021, the Bahrain Grand Prix was again the season opener due to the 2021 Australian Grand Prix being postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Highlights
We knew the 2022 all-new rules could surprise some early in the season, and the Bahrain Grand Prix in Sakhir certainly did not disappoint.
Max Verstappen pushed Ferrari all the way, only for Red Bull to end his day with a double-DNF as Charles Leclerc led the Scuderia in their first 1-2 since 2019.
Red Bull’s loss was Mercedes’ advantage, as Lewis Hamilton gratefully accepted an unexpected podium and new teammate George Russell took a career-best fourth.
And it was a triumphant return for Kevin Magnussen that took Haas to P5, while Alfa Romeo got both cars in points, with newcomer Zhou Guanyue scoring on his F1 debut.

The Bahrain Grand Prix is being broadcast for free in Austria and Luxembourg. This is good news for people in those countries, but disastrous for residents traveling abroad who want to watch the action live in their local language – especially when it’s free to watch at home. It’s only fair that an Austrian, currently in the United States, would want to see the race in Austrian and not in English, right? Practice
After a long break, the 2022 Formula 1 season is set to start on Sunday, with new specifications showing off the race conditions for the first time, but where can you watch all the seasons?
Max Verstappen and Red Bull are expected to set the pace once again, although Ferrari has been the fastest car in pre-season testing.
Lewis Hamilton and Mercedes have not made the further progress they have become accustomed to, with the British driver suggesting his car is not yet competitive.
McLaren has had all kinds of problems building up to the first race of the season and it will be interesting to see if they manage to balance their car before the opening race.
The first two weeks of the season will take place over back-to-back weekends, with Formula 1 traveling to Saudi Arabia followed by Bahrain.
