This Florida-bred gelding debuted in Pimlico on May 30, 2021 in the first claim race for $10,000. Sent in as a 6.50-1 fourth choice in a seven-horse field, he pressed the pace and went away in the stretch to win by eight lengths.
After a third-place finish in a first-tier allowance optional claim race at Pimlico on 26 June, Baby Yoda was bought privately and transferred to trainer Bill Mott. He made his debut for Mott in Saratoga on July 17, and won the starter allowance race by 1 1/4 lengths in a gate-to-wire performance.
