Who do the play next
The NHL regular season kicks off on Friday night, and brings with it the early-round matchups of the 2022 postseason.
The Colorado Avalanche will face the Nashville Predators in the first round starting Tuesday.
Colorado finished as the top seed in the Western Conference with a franchise record 119 points in the regular season. Nashville dropped to the second wild card spot following the result of Friday’s games.

Highlights
The LA Kings scored four goals within the first 11 minutes of the first period on their way to a 9-3 loss in Colorado on Wednesday night.

Cal Pietersen came into relief and faced the first shot, giving up a goal.
Kings head coach Todd McClellan said after the game, “We didn’t have anything, we couldn’t play that way against this team.”
Nicolas Aube-Kubel opened the scoring for the home team on 2:56 of the first period. With the Avalanche establishing his presence in the Kings’ defensive zone, Aube-Kubel obtained a loose puck from a rebound, turned around, and fired a shot through traffic that was found in the back of the net.
Twenty-nine seconds later, the Avalanche made it a game 2–0 on Valery Nychushkin’s feed in the slot and brought it over the edge of the net and backhanded it for his 20th goal of the season.
