Australian Open: Withdrawals| 2021 results| when does the start

The Australian Open is a tennis tournament held every year in the last fortnight of January at Melbourne Park in Melbourne, Australia. The tournament is the first of four Grand Slam tennis events to be held each year before the French Open, Wimbledon and the US Open. This includes male and female singles; men’s, women’s and mixed doubles; Junior Championships; and wheelchairs, legends, and exhibition programs. Before 1988, it was played on grass courts, but since then three types of hardcourt surfaces have been used: the green rebound ace from 2007, the blue plexicushion from 2008 to 2019, and the blue greenset from 2020.

No withdrawal from Team Serbia,” a Tennis Australia spokesperson told The Age.

Djokovic has been included in Serbia’s squad for the ATP Cup, which will take place from January 1-9, ahead of the Australian Open on January 17.

But Tennis Australia could not confirm when Djokovic would arrive in Sydney, according to The Age.

The 34-year-old has yet to commit to the Australian Open after the Covid-19 vaccination mandate agreed by Tennis Australia and the Victorian Department of Health.

Djokovic repeatedly declined to disclose whether he had been vaccinated, citing privacy concerns.

2021 results

Osaka, who defeated American Jennifer Brady 6-4, 6-3 in the final in Melbourne, has now captured two Australian Opens and two US Opens. Only Serena Williams and Venus Williams have held more Grand Slam singles titles among active women.

Osaka’s most memorable match of the tournament was their semifinal – a 6-3, 6-4 win over Serena Williams, denying Williams’ latest bid for a record 24th major title. Osaka also saved two match points against Spain’s Garbine Muguruza in the fourth round.

Australia’s top-ranked Ash Barty lost to Czech Karolina Muchova in the quarter-finals.

Defending champion and fourth seed American Sofia Kenin was upset in the second round.

16-year-old American Coco Gauff, who defeated Osaka at the 2020 Australian Open, was unseeded and fell to No. 5 Elina Svitolina in the second round.

The next major is the French Open, starting in late May, after which the Tokyo Olympic grounds will be determined.

The Australian Open will kick off the 2022 Grand Slam tennis calendar in January, although uncertainty remains around the tournament.

Novak Djokovic is the current men’s singles champion, but his participation is in doubt, as his doubts about vaccination have previously been spoken of. This year’s tournament requires all players and staff to be vaccinated against COVID-19. “If Novak shows up, he will be vaccinated or given a medical exemption,” tournament director Craig Tilly said.

Djokovic aims to win a men’s record 21st Grand Slam, which will see him clearly ahead of rival Rafael Nadal – who tested positive for Covid-19 before Christmas – and Roger Federer, with all three currently There are 20 major titles.

There are also concerns on the women’s side after several stars tested positive for Covid in December, including Emma Radukanu and Belinda Bencic. Naomi Osaka is expected to return to Melbourne to defend her crown after a challenging year in which she took an extended break to protect her mental well-being.
