NASCAR XFINITY SERIESAustin Cyndrick Wants To Win Hometown In Mid-OhiobiStephen ConleyAugust 10, 2019
Meanwhile, Austin Syndrick wants to win another XFINITY Series.

Austin Cindrick is struggling to secure that first Xfinity Series win. Last week at Watkins Glen, it finally came.

Sure enough, Cyndrick had to hit hard at Watkins Glen last week as he battled with AJ Allmender, one of the best road racers in the business.

In fact, Sindrick fought hard to win last Saturday as he passed leader AJ Allmender with a margin of 10 seconds. Above all, he overcame the mistake with two laps to regain the lead. But, for Sindrick, two things are just as important as last week – a win at the Oval and a win at Mid-Ohio.

“We’re so close to that oval win. I think Watkins Glen has solidified our efforts, and I think the oval win will come,” Cyndrick said in Mid-Ohio this morning.

As much as that oval win means for Cyndrick, he’ll be just as happy to have another spot on the track he’s grown up around.

Austin Sindrick drives his new NASCAR ride to victory at the Daytona 500 to celebrate the 85th birthday of team owner Roger Penske.

“Baap re bap. I have so many people to thank,” said the stunned 23-year-old after climbing out of his car and saluting the 120,000-capacity crowd.

“First and foremost Roger Penske, happy birthday!”

Cyndrick had a great run at Daytona International Speedway. Ford drivers synchronized their strategy throughout the week, then executed flawlessly on Sunday night. The blue oval drivers pushed each other over 500 miles and were bunched together for the final restart in overtime.

Sindrick was the leader to restart from the top lane and exited by a wide margin. He then went down to the bottom line in front of his Team Penske teammate Ryan Blaney so that Blaney and Cyndrick could work together on the final two-lap sprint.

On the final lap Blaney made his move for the lead, and Bubba Wallace ducked low for his own look at the front. Cyndrix slid up to block Blaney, but he still had to stop Wallace in Drag Race.

Cindric started the race in the number 5 slot of the starting lineup, finishing as runner-up in the number 1 duel earlier in the week. He hung near the top for the duration of the race and traded first with eventual runner-up Bubba Wallace for a good portion of the final 30 laps.

Of late things became unclear for all as two separate wrecks raised the caution flag within the final 11 laps of the Great American Race. Going into overtime, the rookie managed to establish enough isolation to win in a two-lap shoot and join the elite club of Daytona 500 winners.

He became the first rookie winner of the event since Trevor Bayne in 2011.
