Armando Linwood Bacot Jr. (born March 6, 2000) is an American college basketball player for the North Carolina Tar Heels of the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC).

On November 5, 2021, new UNC head coach Hubert Davis named Becott as the team’s captain, with R.J. Davis and Caleb Love were involved. On January 8, 2022, Bacot posted a career-high of 29 points and 21 rebounds in a 78–54 victory against Virginia. Bacot won 23 double-doubles in the regular season, breaking the UNC single-season record previously held by Bryce Johnson. Bacot was a major performer in the Tar Heels’ 94–81 upset with Duke in Mike Krzyzewski’s final game at Cameron Indoor Stadium, scoring 23 points with 7 rebounds. Four of the Tar Heel’s five starters scored more than twenty points in the game.  After the conclusion of the regular season, he was named First Team All-ACC, and finished runner-up for ACC Player of the Year behind Alondés Williams of Wake Forest. On March 10, 2022, Bacot recorded his 24th double-double of the season, breaking the school record of 23 set by Bryce Johnson in 2016.[19] On March 27, 2022, Bacot recorded his 29th double-double. Tim Duncan’s ACC single-season record with and surpassed Duncan for the most rebounds in a season in ACC history (since 1985–86). Entering the 2022 Final Four, Bacot has 475 rebounds in the 2021–22 season, the fourth in NCAA history for a single season (from 1985–86). Becott had 15 points and 15 rebounds, becoming the first player to score a double in all six tournament games.

Class

This plump, plump post has a lot of potential on the offensive end. Bacot has a rough build. He has 3 wings, but he’s just a fine athlete, which hinders his long-term potential. Bakot has great hands and a nice touch all around the target. He is also capable of getting away and making mid-range jump shots. Over time, his limit should increase even further. Bacot has good footwork on the block and finishes plays well with his right hand. Becott grew stronger over the course of his career and developed into a very good field rebounder. He goes behind the ball with both hands and fights for inside position. Ultimately, Bakot projects into a very good, productive college player.

Draft status

Becott, Agabaji and Davis are in the title game and all three remain where they are in terms of draft estimates. North Carolina guard Caleb Love has increased his stock after a stellar performance against Duke, but the guard can still be considered the best pick in the first round. Brady Manek has also helped his case with his defensive chops in the title game, and NBA teams will value his shooting enough to get a flight on him. As far as Bacot and Agabaji are concerned, both have raised their profile with their performances in the Final Four. The Kansas forward may have to put in some work in the title game but he is a lottery genius.

While the final stat line looks great, Bacot wasn’t the most skilled on offense, and 12 of his 15 points came in the first half of the game. An injury was also reported in the final minutes of the competition in which Bacot aggravated a previous ankle injury due to a loose floorboard on the court.
