Tsarukyan faced Olivier Aubin-Mercier at UFC 240 on 27 July 2019 and won the fight by unanimous decision.

Tsarukyan was expected to face Davis Ramos in UFC Fight Night: Overeem vs. Harris on April 11, 2020. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the event was eventually postponed. The match eventually moved to UFC Fight Night 172 on July 19, 2020. He won the battle by unanimous decision.

Tsarukyan was expected to face Nasrat Haqparast at UFC 257 on 24 January 2021. However, on the day of the weigh-in, Haqparast withdrew from the fight, citing an illness. As a result, the promotion negotiated a matchup between Zarukyan and Matt Frevola. Subsequently, Zarukyan forfeited 20% of his purse due to weight loss, which went to Frivola. Zarukyan won the fight by unanimous decision.
