Yeah, Arkansas isn’t getting hit by three, and that counts.

Hogg is here on his defense, ability to force turnovers, and lots and lots and lots of free throws – he’s No. 1 in the country in effort and make – and with lots of rebounds.

But they are 55 out of 13 in three of their last three games and have failed to hit 30% in six of their last seven matches.

They have no problem running—they’re going up and down the floor as quickly as Gonzaga—but can they keep up with the relentlessness of an offense that’s going to be hit 50% off the ground?

No. Offensive scoring punches are not accompanied by energy from the outside and often stem from steals, transition points and free throws.

Gonzaga doesn’t seem to have a problem with fouling and isn’t going to turn the ball high enough for Arkansas to go into a groove.

My initial inclination is for Arkansas, which can mount a Gonzaga up-tempo attack with both teams placing Jin in the top 30 at adjusted pace per kenpom, but I’m terrified of shooting Razorbacks. .

The team is out of the top 300 in 3-point percentage this season and will need to find ways to generate points outside the paint against Gonzaga’s wanted interior defense, which is ranked third in the country, according to Haslemetrics. Defends the rim.

The Razorbacks have beaten elite competition over the past two months, including Kentucky and Auburn, but Gonzaga may have a lot of firepower for them. With that said, I’ll chime in on the bottom for now. Hogg is in the top 60 in the country in generating turnover and has the on ball chops to match Andrew Nembard on the periphery.

The real question is whether razorbacks can hang down with Drew Timme and Chet Holmgren. I’m going with a slow start in this, given the fact that Arkansas isn’t as explosive on offense, but he has the defense to hang early. The Zags will flirt with a big point total but I think we see a defensive struggle early on.

Spread

While many fans lined up for Chet Holmgren and Jalen Duren to battle the lottery picks, they were instead treated as close-knockouts of the favorites of the tournament. Gonzaga left Memphis behind by 10 points as he entered the half. It was only the fourth time in the entire season that the Bulldogs were behind at halftime.

The second half, however, was a different story, as Gonzaga climbed out of the hole and took a four-point lead that he would never relinquish at midpoint for an 82–78 lead. The win sent Gonzaga into the Sweet 16 for a seventh consecutive season.

The Holmgren/Durren showdown has never lived up to the hype—like Gonzaga when it comes to winning the actual tournament—as foul trouble soon disrupted both NBA studs. Holmgren landed on nine points and nine rebounds, while Duren posted another seven.
