The Arizona Coyotes (colloquially known as the Yoots) are a professional ice hockey team based in the Phoenix metropolitan area. The Coyotes compete in the National Hockey League (NHL) as a member of the Central Division in the Western Conference. The team first played at America West Arena in downtown Phoenix before moving to Glendale’s Gila River Arena in 2003. Starting with the 2021–22 NHL season, the Coyotes are scheduled to return to the Central Division for the first time since 1997–98. The season when Seattle Kraken joined the league.

The Arizona Coyotes were a busy seller this offseason. Ever since he hung up the skates after the 2021 regular season, Yeats has secured several draft picks by trading Conor Garland, Oliver Ackman-Larsen, Darcy Kumper, Christian Dvorak, among others.
They seem to have a much larger purpose and goal in mind: to bring superstar Austin Matthews back home to Arizona and have all the money available to lead a young squad of players to the desert.
Using the many picks they have acquired for the upcoming draft, the Coyotes are looking to rebuild their system to bring together a good team with young talent in order to sign Matthews in 2024 under the salary limit. To make room for more space.
