Whos kid is
The 6-foot-4-inch, 215-pound 18-year-old has been a star at Isidore Newman High School in New Orleans, where his uncle and father Cooper also played. Arch has been considered a top prospect since he was in middle school and threw for 5,731 yards and 72 touchdowns in three years of high school football.
“He took this decision himself. “It was his decision,” Manning’s high school coach Nelson Stewart told ESPN. “I’m just happy he’s where he needs to be. He is an 18 year old kid. He had a lot on his shoulders. Took his time and showed a lot of maturity. When it came to that family, the choice was his.
Manning choosing Texas may have been a deliberate decision to take the pressure off his shoulders. Cooper, Archie and Eli played their college football at Ole Miss, while Peyton was a star at Tennessee. Texas coach Steve Sarkisian had a disappointing first season in charge of the Longhorns, finishing with a 5–7 record, but he has a reputation for developing quarterbacks, including current NFL players Mac Jones and Tua Tagovailoa.
It’s still too early to tell if Manning will be able to play anywhere near the level of his uncles, who won two Super Bowls each. A college coach told ESPN that Manning is more athletic than his uncles, who were known for making plays with their legs.
Relatives
Arch Manning is a five-star quarterback recruit and the nephew of Peyton and Eli Manning. He is the son of Cooper Manning, who played wide receiver at Ole Miss and was a member of the Manning family football dynasty.
Arch Manning was born on April 27, 2005 in New Orleans, Louisiana. He attended the Isidore Newman School in New Orleans, where he played football, basketball and baseball. As a senior, he was named Gatorade National Player of the Year for football.
Manning is considered one of the top quarterback recruits in the country. He committed to play college football at the University of Texas in December 2022.
Manning’s family has a long and storied history in football. His grandfather, Archie Manning, played quarterback at Ole Miss and was drafted by the New Orleans Saints in the first round of the 1971 NFL Draft. He played for the Saints for 13 seasons and was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2017.
Manning’s uncles, Peyton and Eli, are both former NFL quarterbacks. Peyton Manning played for the Indianapolis Colts and Denver Broncos, and he is a two-time Super Bowl MVP. Eli Manning played for the New York Giants and is a two-time Super Bowl MVP.
Arch Manning is following in the footsteps of his family members and is considered one of the most promising quarterback recruits in the country. He will be closely watched as he begins his college football career at the University of Texas.
Parents
Arch Manning’s parents are Cooper Manning and Ellen Heidingsfelder Manning. Cooper is the eldest son of former NFL quarterback Archie Manning and the older brother of Super Bowl-winning quarterbacks Peyton and Eli Manning. Ellen Heddingsfelder is the wife of Manning Cooper and mother of Arch Manning. The Manning family has a distinguished football legacy, with Arch representing the latest generation of talented athletes in the family. While Cooper Manning’s NFL career did not last long due to health issues, his brothers Peyton and Eli Manning are highly acclaimed NFL quarterbacks with numerous accolades and championships to their names.
