Appalachian State’s season took a miraculous turn on Saturday, as the Mountaineers beat Troy 32-28 thanks to a last-second, 53-yard Hail Mary touchdown.

Chase Bryce’s last-second deflection into the arms of Kristen Horn for a 53-yard touchdown in the final game of the game and Appalachian State secured a 32-28 win over Troy in the Sun Belt Conference opener on Saturday.
Bryce slammed Appalachian State (2-1) down the field with 1:13 into the game with a fourth from the 2-yard line and an incomplete throw on goal.
Appalachian State shot Gunnar Watson first down to safety within 28-26, and the Mountaineers held on to their 47-yard line with 15 seconds remaining after kickoff. Bryce’s game-winning throw came at number four and number 10.
Wide receiver Dashaun Davies struck Christian Wells with a 17-yard scoring strike to give the Mountaineers a 7-0 lead.
Watson scored two 1-yard touchdown runs in the second quarter and gave Troy (1-2) a 21-14 lead at halftime.
Bryce completed 22 of 34 passes for 278 yards and two touchdowns. Horn took five catches for 98 yards.
Watson completed 23 of 37 passes for 302 yards with an interception for the Trojans. Troy ran only 57 yards on 28 carries.
