Joshua was last in action in December 2020 in a successful defense of his three belts against Kubrat Pulev, and has been mandated to face Ukrainian former undisputed cruiserweight champion Oleksandr Usyk.

Anthony Joshua vs. Oleksandr Usik, billed as The Perfect Storm, is an upcoming professional boxing match between WBA (Super), IBF, WBO and IBO Heavyweight Champion, Anthony Joshua, and former Undisputed Cruiserweight Champion and WBO’s Heavyweight Mandatory Challenger. Usyk became the first four-belt undisputed cruiserweight champion since winning the World Boxing Super Series tournament in 2018. Following the decision to move to the heavyweight division in 2019, and after Joshua’s title loss against Andy Ruiz Jr. in June of that year, Usick successfully petitioned the WBO to be installed as his mandatory challenger. Meanwhile, Usyk’s team talks with Joe Joyce, with the intention of fighting for the WBO interim title. However, on May 17, a day after Fury confirmed the date for the Joshua fight, news broke that a judge had ordered Fury to fulfill a pre-contractual obligation and face Deontay Wilder before September 2021. .
