Postecoglou was born in the Athens neighbourhood of Nea Filadelfia. Following the 1967 Greek military coup, Postecoglou’s father, Dimitris (“Jim”), lost his business, and at the age of five, he immigrated to Australia by boat in 1970, growing up in Melbourne, Victoria.
