Sir Andrew Barron Murray OBE is a British professional tennis player from Scotland, he was born on 15 May 1987. He has been ranked world No. 1 by the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) for 41 weeks, and finished as the year-end No. 1 in 2016. He has won three Grand Slam singles titles – two at Wimbledon (2013 and 2016) and one at the US Open (2012) – and has reached eleven major finals. Murray was ranked in the top 10 for all but one month from July 2008 through October 2017, and finished no lower than No. 4 in eight of the nine year-end rankings during that span. He was initially coached by his mother Judy alongside his older brother Jamie, Andy moved to Barcelona at age 15 to train at the Sánchez-Casal Academy. He began his professional career around the time Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal established themselves as the two dominant players in men’s tennis. Murray had immediate success on the ATP Tour, making his top 10 debut in 2007 at age 19.

The three-time Grand Slam champion and wife Kim welcomed their fourth child into the world earlier this year.
However, he said the family had gone through a “rough” period in the run-up to the birth after he contracted Covid-19 in January. Murray, 33, said he stayed in a bedroom at the couple’s home in Surrey for six days in a bid to protect his heavily pregnant wife.
Wimbledon Wins
He has won three Grand Slam singles titles – two at Wimbledon (2013 and 2016) and one at the US Open (2012) – and has reached eleven major finals. Barely a month later, at the U.S. Open, he claimed his first Grand Slam title after a hard-fought final against Djokovic. In July 2013 Murray beat Djokovic in an unexpectedly one-sided Wimbledon final and became the first British winner of the men’s singles title at that tournament since Fred Perry 77 years earlier.
Retirement
On Monday night, Murray told reporters that he has found things “a bit of a struggle” since he developed Covid-19 in early January. “Every time I lose a match I’m getting told to retire,” Murray explained. “That I should stop playing, that I’m finished and got nothing left or whatever.
