On Thursday night, Andy Dalton whacked the first half of the game. At least, it produced a screenshot that deserves to be shown at the Louvre.

Not only did the quarterback score a few touchdowns for the New Orleans Saints, but he also had an interception that was returned to the end zone. Despite the interception, the score between the Arizona Cardinals and the New Orleans Saints was tied 14-14 with two minutes left before halftime.

After that, he had a brilliant performance in a two-minute drill. It’s not the kind of history I like.

Marco Wilson, a cornerback for the Cardinals, picked up a pass thrown by Dalton and returned it to score. The pass was deflected by Marquez Callaway. Wilson’s flip in the end zone resulted in a camera shot so beautiful it could almost be considered a work of art.

Nickname

Andy Dalton’s Red Rifle nickname is pretty simple. The name is based on his red hair and the fact that he is a quarterback. The quarterback is often referred to as a gunslinger, so there’s a natural guns-to-quarterback conversion going on here.

Interceptions

The Arizona Cardinals broke their two-game losing skid by capitalizing on three Andy Dalton interceptions in a 42-34 win over the New Orleans Saints on Thursday.

Arizona QB Kyler Murray, who was seen yelling at head coach Cliff Kingsbury in the second quarter, completed 20 of 29 passes for 204 yards and a touchdown without an interception with 30 rushing yards. DeAndre Hopkins led his side, returning from suspension for the first time this season from 10 catches for 103 yards.

The Cardinals overtook Eno Benjamin, who had 12 carries for 92 yards, and rookie Keonte Ingram both scored TDs.

The story of the game was Saints QB Dalton, starting the fourth straight game in the absence of Jameis Winston due to a back injury.

Dalton had thrown only one interception in his last three starts, but gave three, including two pick-sixes, to Marco Wilson and Isaiah Simmons. He made 30-in-47 passes for 361 yards with four touchdowns, joining Juwan Johnson for two of them, but was hit by three interceptions.

The Saints had moved early when Dalton found Rashid Shaheed with a 53-yard TD pass, but the Cardinals worked back with 25 second-quarter points. Ingram powered his way to the TD before Wilson swooped on a tip ball from Marquez Callaway, followed by an interception return from Simmons’ 40-yard line.

The game marked the Cardinals’ first 40-plus-point game since January 1, 2017, breaking the longest streak in the NFL of 87 games.
