Loss

Alexander Volkanovski: Loss| Wife| Payout UFC 273| Prediction

He never lost UFC.

The loss against Corey Nelson came when the pair faced off at the Australian Fighting Championship 5 in Melbourne.

Nelson – who currently works as a crane operator – won via TKO when he landed three devastating kicks on Volkanowski.

Since that result, Volkanovski has enjoyed a 21-fight winning streak that has seen him go on to claim the UFC featherweight title.

His career record is now 24-1-0.

Wife

Emma Volkanowski is the famous wife of Alexander “The Great” Volkanovsky. Emma is an Instagram model and influencer and met Alexander more than a decade ago. She is also the mother of Volkanovsky’s two children.

Emma Volkanowski is a graduate in Physiology from the University of Sydney. She completed her studies before meeting Sikandar. She is well known for her looks and for being taller than her husband. Their height difference has been the subject of online memes in the MMA community.

But Emma Volkanowski, despite being married to a very famous fighter, is a free woman and has built a career on her own regardless of her husband’s success.

Payout UFC 273

Alexander Volkanovsky defended his featherweight title and earned an additional $50,000 bonus per MMA fighting performance at UFC 273.

Volkanowski earned a fourth-round knockout on Chan Sung Jung in the only stoppage of five matches on the main card. He improved his career to 24-1, including 11 straight wins in the UFC.

Aleksey Olenik won the other Display of the Knight bonus with his first-round submission from Jared Vandera.

The Fight of the Night bonus went to Khamjat Chimaev and Gilbert Burns after three rounds of fighting:

Chimaev was the winner by unanimous decision, but both contestants left it all on the mat during a thrilling fight.

Earning a bonus in each of his last five appearances since joining the UFC, it was Chimayev’s 11th straight win to start his professional career.

Prediction

The co-main event of UFC 276 marks the third meeting between Alexander Volkanovsky and Max Holloway for the featherweight title.

In their first meeting at UFC 245, Volkanowski was able to lock down a large portion of Holloway’s momentum with hard leg kicks, coupled with punctuation marks and cold marks. Holloway was able to find some late success with the bodywork and uppercut at the end of the fight, but ultimately it was too little, too late.

Volkanowski ended up taking the title by unanimous decision, but there were certainly lessons that Holloway took away from the encounter.

The next year, two top talents were booked for an immediate rematch at UFC 251, which took place in Abu Dhabi during the first stages of a global pandemic. And despite the changed preparations that were imposed on all parties, the second fight between Volkanovsky and Holloway was even more competitive and compelling than the first.

Drawing lessons from their initial affair, Holloway began the second fight with a much narrower stance and counterintelligence approach. This, of course, was in response to the leg kicks and counters that Volkanowski used to score so often in his title-winning effort.
