Alexander Emerick Jones is an American far-right radio show host and highly prominent conspiracy theorist. He hosts The Alex Jones Show from Austin, Texas, which the Genesis Communications Network syndicates across the United States and online.

Guilty By Default

26 people, including 20 school children, were killed in a shooting in Newtown, Connecticut.

For years Jones claimed that the shooting was a “false flag” operation engineered by the government to bring in stricter gun control laws.

Jones claimed on his radio show and website that the incident was “completely fake with actors,” “synthetic” and “huge hoaxes” by opponents of the Second Amendment and mainstream media.

The families of Sandy Hook victims were subjected to years of harassment in person and online over the claims.

He successfully argued that Jones made money by spreading fake conspiracy theories through his Infowars channel.

On Monday, Connecticut Superior Court Judge Barbara Bayliss issued a default judgment, saying Jones’ attorneys had shown “a blatant disregard of their obligation” to turn over financial and web analytics data, the Hartford Courant reported.

Attorney Chris Mattei, representing the families of the victims, told the Hartford Courant: “Mr. Jones is very used to saying whatever he wants to say from the comfort of his own studio, but I think this case has made a difference to him.” What it has shown is that when he is forced to defend his conduct in court and obey court orders, that is a very different ballgame.
