I hate this place
Philadelphia Phillies third baseman Alec Bohm put up a poor performance in Monday’s 5-4 win over the New York Mets, with three errors in the first three innings.
After two throwing errors in the first two innings, Bohm made a routine play to record the second innings total by Starling Marte on a ground ball, much to the delight of Phillies fans, who sarcastically cheered him on. Standing ovation given.
After drama and mockery from fans, Bohm was caught by a camera saying “I f—king hates this place” in reference to Philadelphia.
Speaking to reporters after the game, Bohm confirmed what he said and apologized to Phillies fans for the remarks.
Bohm said, “Look, emotions got the best of me. I said. Do I mean? No,” Bohm said. “It’s a disappointing night for me, obviously. … These guys, these fans, they just want to win. … I don’t mean that.”
The Mets led 3–0 after the first inning and 4–0 after the seventh, but Kyle Schwarber’s RBI groundout, J.T. Home run of two runs from Realmuto and a pair of doubles by Rhys Hoskins and Didi Gregorius. Bohm started the rally with a walk and finished 1-for-1 with two bases off the balls.
The third pick in the 2018 draft was a highly touted prospect and made his MLB debut during the coronavirus pandemic-shortened 2020 season. He finished second in the National League Rookie of the Year voting with four home runs to .338/.400/.481 and 23 RBIs in 44 games.
In 2021, Bohm reduced to .247/.305/.342 with seven home runs and 47 RBI in 115 games.
Entering Monday’s game, the Wichita State product made only one appearance this season, going 2-for-2 with a double and walks in Saturday’s 4-2 win over the Oakland Athletics.
The Phillies have the best record of 3–1 in the National League East. With the start of the season in mind, Bohm should only be more comfortable, which will be a good sign for the team making the playoffs for the first time since 2011.
Errors
Alec Bohm would have a hard time forgetting this game.
In three innings in Monday night’s game against the New York Mets, the Philadelphia Phillies hard baseman made three throwing errors.
Jamboy Media’s Talkin’ Baseball provided clips of each mistake.
While Bohm may have been better off keeping the first soft grounder in his pocket, a big league third baseman should have easily thrown catcher James McCann over the second miscue. Rhys Hoskins appeared to save Bohm from a third error, but an on-field review reversed the call after the first baseman missed the tag from the bag.
Things could be worse for Bohm. During the second inning, fans cheered sarcastically at Citizens Bank Park as they played a regular game.

Signed with the team. 2018, for an alleged signing bonus of $5.85 million. Johnny Almaraz’s Phillies director of scouting intended for Bohm to follow an agrarian system approach he employed with outfield prospect Adam Hussle, which helped him complete the 2018 Minor League Baseball season with the Class A Lakewood Blue Clause. will be able to end with .
Bohm began the 2018 minor league season with Gulf Coast League rookie league GCL Phillies, with whom he recorded six hits in 12 and two RBIs with the bat. His rise through the Phillies’ farming system was interrupted when Bohm collided with the pitch on July 12, trapping a vein in his knee. He was placed on the disabled list with a calf injury and was seen in a walking boot. After missing more than a month due to injury, Williamsport reactivated Bohm on 20 August. In 29 games for the Crosscutters and 107 in batting, Bohm batted .224, with 12 RBIs and five doubles.

Bohm’s bat is his calling card, but his future defensive position as a professional is in question.
Baseball America wrote, “Bohm has done as much as he can in the 2018 class to prove himself with the bat, but where questions will lie before him, he is on the defensive side.” , “Some scouts think Bohm will eventually go to first base, while others believe his strong hand will be enough to stay in the hot corner.”
