Hall of fame

If you haven’t been shaken in the presence of this spectacular tribute to the sport’s greatest players and managers, I feel bad for you and hope your own national pastime is one-tenth as exciting.

So, I’m asking my question because every Hall of Famer has a cap on the bronze plaque of likeness. Although plaques tell you which team or team someone was on, hats can only have one team’s logo forever.

For Albert Pujols, Cardinal or Angel will likely be a more difficult decision to decide which city should forever be the place where his baseball heart is located. But the shocking truth be told, according to the policy of the Hall of Fame, they do not get to take this decision.

That’s right, years from now when Albert Pujols is inducted into the Hall of Fame, he won’t have the final say on the logo on the hat he will wear on his bronze plaque. Maybe some of you already know this. But I bet many of you aren’t thinking, “What the hell?”

Until 2001 the hall allowed players or managers who were with more than one team to decide which logo they wanted on their hats.

Retirement

Albert Pujols has signed a one-year deal with the St. Louis Cardinals that will book his 22-year MLB career in St. Louis. He previously spent 11 years with the Cardinals and is now back for 2022, which will be his last MLB season before retirement.

“This is my last round,” Pujols said on Monday. Confirming that he will retire after the 2022 season.

The news of finalizing an agreement between the two sides spread overnight. And before the deal was even announced to be official, Pujols was back in Cardinals uniform and given a standing ovation by fans for Monday’s spring training action.
