Horford’s parents are father Tito Horford and mother Arelis Reynoso. His mother, according to a Boston Globe story written by him, has been a sports journalist since 1988.
However, Al Horford’s father, Tito, may be familiar. He is arguably the most famous Dominican basketball player of all time!
That’s right, Al’s father also played in the NBA, and was selected by the Milwaukee Bucks in the second round (39th overall) of the 1988 NBA Draft. He became the first Dominican-born player to play in the NBA.
The 7ft 1in center spent two seasons with the Bucks and also completed a three-game stint with the Washington Bullets in 1993. He then played in Euroleague basketball before eventually retiring.

Al’s sister is making a name for herself during the playoffs
Tito and Arelis have two other children, John Horford and Anna. John, Al’s brother, played as a forward for the University of Michigan basketball team before relocating to Florida after his junior season.

Horford was born in Puerto Plata, Dominican Republic. His father, Tito Horford, played for three years in the National Basketball Association (NBA) and several other countries. In 2000, Horford and his family moved to Lansing, Michigan, where he attended Grand Ledge High School in Grand Ledge, Michigan, and was a star on its basketball team. Horford holds seven school records, including most career points (1,239). As a senior, he was named Class A Player of the Year after averaging 21 points, 13 rebounds and five blocks per game. At the Grand Ledge, Horford played AAU basketball for the Michigan Mustangs, who were runners-up in the Adidas Big Time National Tournament.[2] Considered by Rivals.com as a four-star recruit, Horford is the No. 7 power forward and Was listed as the number 36 player in the country in 2004.
