According to TMZ Sports, the NFL running back Adrian Peterson was arrested on Sunday and charged with domestic violence.
Peterson and his wife Ashley were reportedly on a plane to drop LAX for Houston before the two were involved in a verbal and physical altercation. The plane was brought back to the gate, where Peterson was taken into custody.
“Earlier today there was a verbal argument between Adrian and his wife Ashley on a flight, and they were taken off the plane,” a representative for the couple told TMZ. “It is a personal misunderstanding between husband and wife and we hope that it will all be resolved soon.”
According to TMZ, Ashley remained on the plane and traveled to Houston with the rest of the passengers.
The couple spent Saturday night at the DIRECTV Presents Maxim Electric Nights party ahead of Super Bowl LVI in Los Angeles.
Peterson, 36, is coming off his 15th season in the NFL. He appeared in four games split between the Tennessee Titans and the Seattle Seahawks, marking six different outfits over the past five seasons.
In 2014, the Running Back star was charged with one felony count of negligent or negligent injury to a child after hitting his then-four-year-old son with a switch. He avoided jail time after agreeing to a plea deal for reckless assault of misconduct.
