Adolis Garcia injury: Update| Return| History

Garcia left the game with left side strain. He said Garcia was “fainted in the tunnel” as he headed back to the locker room for further evaluation.

After the game, Rangers manager Bruce Bochy said that both Garcia and Scherzer were still being evaluated.

“[Garcia] will get some diagnostics done, see where he’s at. There’s stiffness in the left side. We’re optimistic there, but we’ll know more tomorrow,” Bochy said.

Return

Garcia underwent an MRI after the game and was diagnosed with a moderate oblique strain. His season ended on Tuesday. The Rangers removed Garcia and right-handed starter Max Scherzer from their World Series roster. This decision means that both Garcia and Scherzer will not play in the World Series again.

History

Just as his star-making postseason run was reaching its peak, Adolis Garcia has been sidelined.

The Texas Rangers announced their lineup for Game 4 of the World Series on Tuesday, and Garcia was not a part of it. The right fielder suffered an oblique hit to left in the eighth inning of Game 3 on Monday, which caught his side shortly after flying out to center.

Travis Jankowski, who replaced Garcia for the final frame of that contest, will start in his place in right field against the Arizona Diamondbacks on Tuesday night. Designated hitter Mitch Garver is serving as Texas’ No. 3 hitter, while Jankowski is in the ninth spot.

Manager Bruce Bochy said that Garcia has been diagnosed with a moderate oblique strain and will be evaluated further, emphasizing that the news so far has not been good. Barring a last-minute change before the first pitch, he is not expected to be available off the bench on Tuesday.

Garcia took batting practice during warmups, but was unable to get beyond a few swings.
