Adam Robert Johnson (June 22, 1994 – October 28, 2023) was an American professional ice hockey forward. He played 13 games in the National Hockey League with the Pittsburgh Penguins during the 2018–19 and 2019–20 seasons. He also played in Europe with the Malmö Redhawks, Augsburger Panther and Nottingham Panthers. Johnson died in 2023 after being hit in the neck by a skate following an on-ice collision.

Murdered
Police are investigating the death of a tragic ice hockey star who is believed to have died after his throat was slashed by a skate in a freak accident.
Adam Johnson, 29, is believed to have been hit in the neck with an ice hockey blade in a freak accident at the match between Nottingham Panthers and Sheffield Steelers at the Utilita Arena Sheffield last night.
Heartbroken fans and his teammates have today paid tribute to the American athlete – as they urged the club to look after the other player involved in the clash.
South Yorkshire Police were contacted at 8.25pm and confirmed he was later pronounced dead in hospital.
Force officials are present at the spot and investigation into the incident is underway.
