Adam Robert Johnson (June 22, 1994 – October 28, 2023) was an American professional ice hockey forward. He played 13 games in the National Hockey League with the Pittsburgh Penguins during the 2018–19 and 2019–20 seasons. He also played in Europe with the Malmö Redhawks, Augsburger Panther and Nottingham Panthers. Johnson died in 2023 after being hit in the neck by a skate following an on-ice collision.

Tributes have been paid to the 29-year-old professional ice hockey player who died after a “freak accident” during the Challenge Cup match between the Nottingham Panthers and Sheffield Steelers on Saturday night.
Adam Johnson, originally from Minnesota, USA, died after suffering a serious blade injury to his neck during a match at the Sheffield Arena.
Eyewitnesses described the accident as horrific and many fans were left in tears when the match was abandoned. Johnson’s team, the Nottingham Panthers, confirmed his death on Sunday morning.

The 29-year-old Nottingham Panther forward was fatally injured in Saturday’s game against Sheffield Steelers.
The club said Johnson’s injury was a “freak accident”.
His teammates and fans left flowers outside the Motorpoint Arena in Nottingham where the Panthers play their home games.
Following the abandoned match at Sheffield’s Utilita Arena, Panthers fans expressed both sadness and disbelief at the player’s death.
Lucy Morgan said: “He was not only a player you could look up to, he was also a really good human being. He cared about all his teammates and the fans.”
