Until now, one of the more subtle secrets of the 2021 NFL season was the state of Aaron Rodgers’ hair.

The typically short-haired Green Bay Packers quarterback had little explanation this year with his head of hair off his helmet, until last month he said it was not part of his Halloween costume.

That costume was finally revealed on Halloween, and it’s one of the more popular ones out there: John Wick.

Rodgers first teased the outfit on Saturday, tagging Packers left tackle David Bakhtiari as Vic’s dog. It’s unclear whether Rodgers’ fiancee Shailene Woodley is wearing similar clothes.

Considering Rodgers is basically what Vic is to Chicago Bears fans to Russian gangsters, the whole thing seems pretty fitting. As Rodgers explained it on “The Pat McAfee Show” last month, he’s been planning the costume for a long time and apparently holds Vic in high esteem:

“It’s been a year in the making of my costume. I’m not going to give it up, but it’s someone who is my hero who has long hair.”

With Halloween falling on Sunday this year, Rodgers will be able to enjoy the costume as much as he wants, as the Packers are locked in on Sunday following their “Thursday Night Football” win against the Arizona Cardinals.

The reason behind Aaron Rodgers’ long hair has been revealed!

The Green Bay Packers quarterback, 37, dressed up like the title character of the John Wick film franchise’s Keanu Reeves for Halloween in an Instagram post shared Saturday.

In his photo, Rodgers is seen holding a Pitbull in the back seat of a car with fake blood on his face and arm, which almost match the first photo shared of the trilogy’s canine-loving hitman. (Hilariously, Rodgers tagged teammate David Bakhtiari as a dog in his post.)

“Boogeyman,” Rodgers captioned his post, referencing Vic’s nickname.

Several of Rodgers’ fellow packers — including Marquez Valdes-Scantling, David Bakhtiari and Tom Crabtree — approved of their teammate’s costume choice in the comments section.

Arizona Cardinals tight end Zach Ertz called Rodgers’ outfit a “commitment”—and really, it was.

During an appearance on The Pat McAfee Show in September, Rodgers teased that his 2021 Halloween costume “has been a year in the making.”

“I’m not going to give it away,” he said at the time. “But he’s a hero of mine with long hair.”

Also in the previous year, Rodgers announced his engagement to actress Shailene Woodley, who confirmed the news in an interview with Jimmy Fallon on The Tonight Show in February.

Rodgers’ past Halloween costumes prove he’s a cinephile. He previously drew inspiration from the title character of Napoleon Dynamite’s The Life Aquatic with Uncle Rico and Steve Zisso.
