Match
Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers is in Las Vegas to compete in “Capital Once the Match” Wednesday night. The golfing showdown pits Rodgers and Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Tom Brady against two young cannons: Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes and Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen.
The four will play 12 holes at the Wynn Golf Club in Las Vegas.
After defeating Brady and Phil Mickelson last summer, Rodgers is trying to win his second consecutive “The Match” event.
The match
For the second year in a row in The Match, it turned green for Aaron Rodgers. For the second year in a row, the Packers QB clutch arrived.
Josh Allen nearly made a long put on the 12th and final hole as the match was tied, but it was shortened by an inch. Patrick Mahomes’ putt goes wide right, giving Tom Brady and Rodgers a chance to win. Brady’s 15-foot putt was just right, but Rodgers, who teamed up with Bryson DeChambeau to win the match in 2021, sank a game-winning putt, making it easy to pull off a 15-foot putt to win the match .
“I had a great feeling about it,” Rodgers told the TNT broadcast. “Tom read me really good and I listened to Trevor [Imelman] and Charles [Barkley] in my headphones thought I was going to make it. When I hit it I felt good about a lie and I knew Was that it was going in.”
Junior college
Ron Souza posed a coherent question in different forms as the 2005 NFL draft approached.
What was wrong with Aaron Rodgers?
Professional football scouts wanted to know how the potential multimillion-dollar franchise quarterback failed to receive a Division I scholarship offer just three years ago.
“A general manager said to me, ‘Such people not only fall from the sky. People become aware of this kind of ability when they are 15 or 16 years old.’ I got a laugh out of that,” Souza said.
Sousa, Rodgers’ former post coach at Pleasant Valley High School in Chico, Calif., would politely make these inquiries while examining a photo collage of former players at his desk.
