Aaron Rodgers announced his surprise engagement to Shailene Woodley in his acceptance speech when he was named the NFL’s MVP in February 2021.

A source close to Rodgers confirmed to PEOPLE that the NFL star, 38, and the actress, 30, have split after they made the surprise announcement that they were engaged.

“It was an amicable split; it just didn’t work out,” says the source. “They’re very different people with busy careers and there were obstacles they couldn’t overcome. They’ll be friendly; there’s no bad blood and no drama. It just didn’t work out for them.”

A representative for Woodley has not commented. A representative for Rodgers declined to comment. InTouch was the first to report the news.

The news of their breakup came after Rodgers received backlash about his vaccination status in November 2021, when it was made public that he tested positive for the coronavirus. In August of last year, he told the media that he had been “immunised” when asked whether he had received the COVID-19 vaccine amid growing NFL protocols for the 2021 season. However, during an appearance on The Pat McAfee Show on November 5, Rodgers confirmed that he had not been vaccinated. That same month, Woodley criticized the “outrageous” claims about Rodgers.

In late February 2021, Woodley confirmed her engagement during an appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, joking to the late-night host that she never thought she’d marry someone who was “living”. Throws the ball to stay.”

Gay

A new book on Brett Favre says some Packer teammates questioned Aaron Rodgers’ sexuality. Some of Aaron Rodgers’s Packers teammates speculated that the quarterback might be gay because he “wasn’t going to brag about the size of his penis”, according to an excerpt from Gunslinger: Brett Favre’s Notable, Better by Jeff Perlman. Iconic Life.

The book is about Favre, but the Hall of Fame quarterback’s relationship with Rodgers is discussed throughout the text.

The Bleacher Report shared the following excerpt, an anecdote from the beginning of Rodgers’ career.

“Rodgers was the object of jokes – some he heard, many he didn’t. A rumor spread around the locker room that he was gay, based on the fact that – unlike many of his peers – he was the size of his penis. Or not bragging about his endless string of sexual conquests. Favre seeks out Rodgers’ weaknesses (a bad throw, a clumsy melee) and takes a selfish pleasure in noticing them.

Rodgers is dating actress Olivia Munn and in 2013 told ESPN Radio that he is not gay.

“I’m not gay,” Rodgers said. “I really, really like women. That’s all I can say about that.”

Calls off wedding

We’re stepping into the realm of celebrity gossip with this, but everything that has to do with former Cal star Aaron Rodgers is news these days.

According to multiple reports, Rodgers and actress Shailene Woodley have called off their engagement.

Green Bay Packers fans will immediately analyze that report and try to determine whether it will have any impact on his important off-season decision: whether he will retire, stay with the Packers in 2022, or move to another team.

This breakup wouldn’t even have been news if they both weren’t high-profile personalities in the entertainment business. But such is life for those who enter it.

Rodgers announced his engagement to Woodley in his acceptance speech to win the 2020 MVP. She wasn’t with him when he won MVP again this season, but that doesn’t necessarily indicate anything.

But apparently it is over.

A source told CNN: “They parted ways, both have busy careers and unfortunately their relationship backfired. There is no animosity and they will remain friends.”
