Did go to community college

The career of Aaron Rogers, who as a high school kid was hardly seen as a student-athlete capable of earning a D1 scholarship, took a turn when he got attention from elite college football prospects at Butte College on his way to the NFL and Super Bowl glory.

Aaron Rogers was the starting quarterback of the Roadrunners team for the 2002 season which bagged 10 winning games, lost 1 and finished as Northern California Conference Champions as well as having a national ranking of 2. Aaron was signed to Butte College by football coach Craig Rigsbee who noted that Aaron didn’t receive much attention from D1 schools in the course of his high school playing career at Pleasant Valley High School in Chico. In a Bleacher report in 2016, Rigsbee recalled calling the Rodgers family and discovered that the family lived McCutchinson’s cul-de-sac. A few moments later he was at their house.

‘His mother was all like, ‘Listen, my son has really pushed himself too much in academics to have to go to a junior college. Wonderful. Today, I really had to take my time thinking about how to present our football program and our circumstances,’ said coach Rigsbee to Turner’s reporter Tyler Donohue about this event. Butte College was not someone who would provide him with the recognition he sought as he was a college level athlete looking for who would provide him with opportunities for expansion.
