Rookie Year Stats
Judge’s 128 was the sixth-highest for a rookie and the fourth-highest for an American League player. The only rookie to score more runs in a season since 1959 was Mike Trout, who scored 129 times in 2012.
Judge’s 114 RBIs were 15th in the rookie season, well above the mark of 145 set by Williams in 1939. But it was the most by an AL rookie since McGwire was 118 in 1987. Since 1950, only Albert Pujols (130 in 2001), Macquarie, Jose Canseco (117 in 1986) and Alvin Davies (116 in 1984) had more in their rookie seasons.

The Yankees drafted Judge with the 32nd overall pick in the first round of the 2013 MLB Draft, a pick the team received as compensation after losing to Nick Swisher in free agency. Judge signed with the Yankees and received a $1.8 million signing bonus. He tore the quadriceps femoris muscle while participating in a base running drill, which kept him out of the 2013 season.
He made his professional debut in 2014 with the Charleston Riverdogs of the Class A South Atlantic League. His batting average (6th in the league), .428 on-base percentage (OBP; 3rd), .530 slugging percentage (SLG; 6th), and scored nine home runs with 45 RBIs in 65 games for Charleston. The Yankees promoted him to the Tampa Yankees of the Class A-Advanced Florida State League during the season, where he hit .283 with .411 OBP (second in the league), .442 SLG, eight home runs, and 33 RBIs. 66 games for Tampa.
