Hardy was drafted in the sixth round of the NFL draft with the Carolina Panthers after playing for Ole Miss Rebels in college. Hardy’s most remarkable season in the NFL was 2013,when he was awarded Pro Bowl and second team All-Pro after breaking the Panthers’ one season sack record. In the off season which followed, Hardy was however accused of violence towards a past partner. The situation resulted in involvement of a court, but Hardy’s case went on to be ignored which is a reason as to why he only played one game for the Panthers in 2014 as they did not renew his contract. Hardy played for the Dallas Cowboys as his last NFL season team during the last period of his career in the NFL.

After his football career ended, Hardy joined the world of Mixed Martial Arts. He competed one day in the prolific division of heavyweight.
