Coach
Rodionova has played six seasons on World TeamTennis. In 2011, Rodionova was drafted by the Washington Kastles WTT team, coached by Murphy Jensen. As a result of their 14-match undefeated regular season win streak, the Kastles earned the top seed in the conference championship, where they defeated the Boston Lobsters. In the WTT Finals, the Castles defeated the St. Louis Aces to capture the 2011 WTT Championship for the second time in its four-year existence, and completed the first 16–0 season in WTT’s 36-year history.
Ranking
She is currently ranked 113th after reaching a career high of 112th in early December. Rodionova had no trouble winning points on Kenin’s serve, but the American was able to control most of her service games, giving up only four break points out of 21.
Husband
Rodionova obtained Australian citizenship in January 2014 and married Australian rules footballer, Ty Vickery, in December 2015. Arina Rodionova and husband Ty Vickery have decided to end their marriage, according to a post on the Australian tennis player’s Instagram account. Rodionova and Vickery married in December 2015 during the Australian Open wildcard playoff event.
Ty Vickery
Australia’s last Wimbledon singles hopeful will take to the court for the second round on Thursday night against the backdrop of extortion claims looming over her AFL-player husband.
Australian lone ranger Arina Rodionova, 27, refused to discuss Ty Vickery’s troubles ahead of the biggest match of her life against Kazakh wildcard Zarina Dias.
But the world number 166 insisted the drama surrounding Vickery and her ex-Richmond teammate Jake King – who has been charged with making death threats – was a serious matter for older sister Anastasia Rodionova on Wednesday. There was no distraction before the defeat.
