Why was fired
Petrino was fired as head coach in 2012 after hiring a woman with whom he was in a romantic relationship, which came to light after an infamous motorcycle accident with him as the passenger.
Petrino initially lied in public statements and said he was alone during the crash, which occurred about 20 miles southeast of Fayetteville, home of the university.
Petrino gave a $20,000 gift to the employee, former volleyball player Jessica Dorrell, which he did not disclose.
Context: The Razorbacks have struggled recently with painful losses such as 7-3 against Mississippi State and 48-10 against Auburn, leading some to question whether the program will retain head coach Sam Pittman for another year. Athletics director Hunter Yurachek confirmed that Pittman would remain.
Is still married
Bobby Petrino is still married to his wife, Becky Petrino. They have been married since July 20, 1985, and Becky has been supportive of him throughout his coaching career and has shown resilience during challenging moments.
Bobby Petrino is still married to Becky Petrino. The couple has been together since their wedding on July 20, 1985. Despite facing challenges such as Bobby’s extramarital affair scandal, Becky has chosen to stay with him, demonstrating resilience and maintaining a low profile during the media scrutiny. Their relationship began when Becky was in college in Montana, and since then, they have created a family with four children, two girls and two boys. In particular, Becky Petrino is known for her love of tennis and golf.
The couple has demonstrated philanthropy by donating $250,000 to a children’s hospital in Arkansas in September 2011. Despite ups and downs, their enduring marriage and Becky’s composed response to challenges underscore the sense of commitment and loyalty in their relationship.
Affair
According to the documents, Bobby Petrino’s relationship with his assistant goes back more than a year, with the former Arkansas coach sending her candy, calling her a “close friend” and suggesting the affair cost her her job. It started with a kiss during lunch last year. Released on Thursday.
Those details were in handwritten notes kept during the investigation of Petrino by athletic director Jeff Long, who was fired last week. Long’s notes, along with the notes of assistant athletic director John Fagg, were released as part of a Freedom of Information Act request made by the Associated Press. The two interviewed Petrino, his assistant and others during the investigation, which led to the coach’s firing on April 10 – nine days after the motorcycle accident that exposed their relationship.
The notes show that Petrino, 51, and Jessica Dorrell, 25, were intimate for about five months, from September or October until last February. However, according to the notes, the university discovered 326 phone calls and 7,228 text messages between the two dating back to April 2011. And they show that Petrino and Dorrell claimed to end the intimate part of their relationship when it became clear she wanted to do so. Apply for a job under Petrino – he wanted him to “earn.” He was hired on March 28 and has since resigned.
