Death cause
Seidler’s family requested that the cause of death be kept private. Seidler, who had been battling an undisclosed illness, announced in a September 18 statement that he had undergone an unspecified medical procedure, and said he would be unable to attend Padres games for the remainder of the 2023 season.
“The Padres organization mourns the passing of our beloved president and owner, Peter Seidler,” Padres CEO Eric Graupner said in a statement.
“Today, our love and prayers surround Peter’s family as they mourn the loss of an extraordinary husband, father, son, brother, uncle and friend. Peter was a kind and generous man who was devoted to his wife, children, and extended family. He consistently demonstrated heartfelt compassion toward others, especially those less fortunate.
Cause of death
The cause of death was not disclosed. Seidler survived cancer twice. The team announced in mid-September that Seidler had an unspecified medical procedure in August and would not return to the ballpark for the remainder of the year.
