Where did play college ball
Howell stayed close to home for college and enrolled at the University of North Carolina in 2019. By the time he got there, he had emerged as one of the best quarterbacks in UNC history, setting school records for passing yards, touchdowns and total offense.
He was extremely efficient, especially considering his age, as he ranked 15th in the country in yards per pass attempt and 11th in passer rating. As a true freshman he was a more efficient passer than some of the seasoned veterans like Sam Ehlinger and Jake Fromm.
